Senator Charles Schumer was born in Brooklyn, and grew up in the Sheepshead Bay neighborhood. Schumer graduated from Harvard College and Harvard Law School. Schumer became the youngest member of the State Legislature at age 23, as an assembly member. Then in 1980, he was elected to U.S. Congress. In 1998, Schumer was elected to the U.S. Senate. Chuck still resides in Brooklyn with his wife, Iris Weinshall, and their daughters Jessica and Alison.
