ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Gov. Andrew Cuomo is looking for college students and young professionals to apply for two new programs aimed at nurturing the next generation of New York leaders and policy makers.
The "New New York Leaders Initiative" includes a program called the Empire State Fellows and another called the Student Intern Program.
Candidates may receive more information and apply online at www.NewNYLeaders.com .
The Empire State Fellows is a two-year program to prepare about a dozen young professionals for policy making roles in state government, with the most promising landing jobs. The stipend will be about $50,000 a year.
The new Student Intern Program will assign hundreds of students each year to an executive branch agency for hands-on experience, similar to a longstanding internship program in the Legislature.
