BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — There was overwhelming support at Erie County Hall Monday night for County Executive Mark Poloncarz's proposed budget, which would raise property taxes 3.4 percent.
One by one speakers from the county's cultural groups and library system stepped up to the microphone and urged county lawmakers to pass this budget.

Buffalo and Erie County Public Library Director Mary Jean Jakobowski said, "We are all at a critical juncture. Please support the Erie County proposed tax increase to fund the culturals, the literacy organizations and the libraries sufficiently and securely so that we may all be here and our institutions will be here for generations to come."
The Erie County Control Board has already signed off on the almost $1.4 billion spending plan.
