BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Erie County Comptroller's Chief of Staff was in court Tuesday to answer to a drunk driving charge.
Jeffery Bochiecho, Chief of Staff for Comptroller Stefan Mychajliw, was arrested in early October. According to State Police, he was stopped by a trooper for failing to dim his headlights on Route 242 in the Town of Machias. Bochiecho was then arrested and charged with DWI for driving with a .13 percent BAC.
Bochieco had a bench trial in Machias Town Court Tuesday and was found guilty. When he is sentenced April 3, he faces one year in jail, a $1,000 fine, and three years probation. Bochieco could be sentenced to any combination of those penalties by the judge.
The Cattaraugus County District Attorney's Office also says that no matter what sentence Bochieco is given, he will have his license revoked for six months and after it is returned need to install an ignition interlock device in his vehicle for six months.
