BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Tight budget issues seem to be common these days at schools and government entities. But things appear to be running smoothly at the Erie County Clerk's Office.
Chris Jacobs announced Thursday morning that the clerk's office has posted a revenue surplus of $2.1 million for 2012. Jacobs cites clearing up a backlog when he took office and a strong real estate market for this profitable year.
"This year we really out did ourselves beyond what we projected. Again, this money does not stay with the clerk. This money goes back to the county to be utilized for critical services for the county," Jacobs said.
The surplus includes more than a million dollars from the registrar's land records division and $700,000 in revenue from the Erie County Auto Bureau.
