BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A retired sergeant wants to be the next sheriff of Erie County.
Richard Dobson officially announced his candidacy on Friday. Dobson served 32 years with the Erie County Sheriff's Office. He went on to become a supervisory officer with the United Nations peace keeping forces.
"Things will be different. The current sheriff has been in for almost a decade. You have to ask yourself, 'Have thing improved?' I think not. I think things have gotten worse," Dobson said.
Republican incumbent Tim Howard is expected to run for re-election.
